Pests Are Scary… Even When it Is Not Halloween

Bugs and pests can be real-life ghoulish creatures. They don’t need to dress up in scary costumes. Apart from looking scary, sometimes they are disease carrying dangerous pests that must be exterminated, and sometimes, like bats, they are helpful.

For ages, bats have been thought of as scary monsters living in haunted houses and turning into vampires - driving fear in people when they are seem. Bats are nocturnal mammals that settle down in dark attics, and caves. They are known to fly from their dark nests at night to eat insects and return to their lair as the sun comes up. The bigger the bat, the scarier it is, and if that is true, then the Fox Bat, also called the Flying Fox is truly scary.

The Fox Bat is considered the largest bat and can reach a wingspan of 5 feet, they can see in color, and often fly around in the daytime. Fox Bats are a type of fruit bat, so they do not thirst for human blood, like vampires.
